Are The Best Workouts In The Morning or Evening?

If this were a perfect world, we would all be able to pick our workout times by what our bodies are telling us. Some people are very good at getting out of bed in the morning with vim, vigor, and gusto in place and others prefer their early morning hours for meditations. While juggling work, school, family responsibilities, and friends, the daily workout is often regulated simply by when the gym has an opening.

The health benefits of working out in the morning vs. working out in the evening have long been debated by those who find something that is working wonderfully for their lifestyles that are forgetting that each body is made to be different based upon personal lifestyle choices, society influences, and stress levels. A person simply cannot have a really good morning workout if they are worried about getting children to school and their important 9am business meeting after leaving the gym.

What many people do to find their niche for a workout schedule is to watch what their body is doing naturally for a few weeks before making long-term decisions. If problems are developing over gym use after work while the family would like you home for interactions in the evening, you are a morning workout candidate. If you try morning workouts and find that you are day-dreaming about your pillow, try evening workouts instead. Your lifestyle routine and your body will direct you into the routine time that is best for you.

Schedule time during the day for quick workouts. Being consistent everyday and showing a little effort can generate great results. Try doing sets of crunches and pushups in the morning and afternoon just before you shower in the morning or lay down at night. 10-15 minutes morning and night will tone your body up quick in about a week.

Eat right. Of course it does not matter how much exercise you do if you eat fattening food 24/7. Try focusing on proteins and vegetables or fruit, and avoid carbohydrates and excessive fat. Dairy products are fine, but try to keep the high-fat ones (butter, cream) in low quantities.

Hydrate yourself. Drinking a lot of fluids helps your body get rid of fat and toxins, but you need to make sure that you drink the right types. Stay away from high-calorie drinks like energy drinks or sodas, and focus more on water and natural juice (avoid juice from concentrates).

Depends on what you want to do. Marathons? Train long. Bodybuilding, football, strength games? Train hard. Even in marathons or distance sports, there’s room for training hard. Has to do with the different muscle fibers, fast twitch and slow twitch. That’s why mixing up an exercise routine is so great for the body.

So what’s the difference? Train Hard. Heavy weights in short sessions incorporate slow twitch muscles, which build strength and mass. The basic rules apply here, squat for lower body strength and conditioning, bench press for upper body development, and deadlift. There are different schools of thought on training to failure or lifting to max, but the bottom line is those three core exercises should be a foundation for hard training. You don’t have to be a bodybuilder and bulk up with these exercises since they can be used for basic strength building.

Train long. Lighter weights with higher repetitions increase lean muscle mass. These are the endurance sessions to build up the bodie’s ability to increase stamina. Some people may not think endurance plays a part in their training methods because of their goal, like building muscle mass. But stamina extends beyond the gym and into every day life. Increased endurance can make long work day sgo by faster, can help with the pick up basketball game in the cul de sac, and can work wonders in the bedroom. Incorporating longer training sessions increases endurance. The best way to train is a mix of both long training sessions to increase endurance and short, heavy training sessions to build strength.

The Ironman competition is a difficult, grueling test of your will. A 2.4 mile swim, followed by a 112 mile bike race, and then finishing up with a 26.2 mile marathon. How do you train for this?

To get in shape, a specialized program will need to be developed that is unique to you. This will require that you work hard to increase endurance and technique. Depending on which of the activities are your strong ones, will dictate how much time is allocated to each sport. A careful analysis of your capabilities is a prerequisite.

The time and range that is necessary is as follows:

You should be able to swim 100 yards comfortably in about 2 minutes which would allow you to finish 1 1/2 hours.

You need to average a speed of 15 miles per hour to complete this segment in 7 ½ hours.

In order to finish the run in four and a half hours, a pace of one mile every ten minutes is necessary.

At this rate, there would still be three hours left over in order to finish under the 17 hour maximum allowed time. It is important to determine your weaknesses, work the hardest on those, and train so they fall within the range of the criteria.

Carefully select your training programs but, remember, whichever program is selected, the last two weeks need to be low intensity rest weeks to allow your muscles to be at full strength by race time.

You are thinking about running a marathon, but don’t know where to begin when it comes to choosing which one to run. Well ask yourself this question, would you like to run a marathon in a foreign country or city, are you wanting to travel, or stay close to home?

Also, do you want to run a path that is flat, hilly, steep, or a mixture? In order to find the right marathon for you, I recommend doing your research on the internet and going from there.

After you have chose what marathon it is you want to run, you will need to setup a training schedule so that way you are able to prepare your body for the upcoming race. The first thing you should do is make sure that you have the proper gear such as shoes, there are many brands available.

Next thing you want to do is start running, pick at least four days to run, but space them out, and start off running at least two miles each day, on a flat surface, and as you excel in doing that, you will want to increase the number of miles, as well as hilly surfaces, and rough surfaces. You will want to start your training at least six months prior to the race, maybe even a year. Make sure to increase your speed with your runs, but also rotate from slow to fast.

Always remember the week before the race, make sure you taper off you runs and do not over exert yourself.

Training for a triathlon – even a short triathlon – requires a commitment of time and effort. Assuming that you are already at least competent at running, cycling and swimming, the most important thing is to lay out a schedule that includes all three activities performed at enough of a frequency to build up your performance level.

It helps to select a particular triathlon event that is several months away as your target event. It also helps to have a training partner, or to join a triathlon club or group. You probably won’t have training company for every workout in each of the three events, but having partners at the same level of commitment can keep you on the path. Friendly competition with your other club members can help you stay the course.

Most triathletes like to lay out their training plans in terms of which events to train and how many training sessions per week will suffice. To be able to get in shape at a level sufficient to complete the triathlon without exhausting yourself, you will need to schedule at least two training events for most days, e.g. swim and run one day, bike and run the next etc.

It is a good idea to get accustomed to running right after getting off the bike – that is the key to success!
